New glasses and a nose ring. :) (Taken with instagram)
i was going to wait a little before posting this just because i’m feeling guilty about the lack of art that’s showing up on my page (what i know 90% of you guys probably follow me for - p.s. there is lots happening behind the scenes right now, promise!) but couldn’t resist tying it up with this tasty little gif from Jenna’s latest video Sluts On Halloween. (also: “keep on hoeing, hoes!” um, is there some kind of brilliant/important award of recognition you can win for that???)
recently, i discovered an amazing writer: Kate Carraway - she keeps a girl column on VICE and is equal parts entertaining, charming and wise and writes about all kinds of super relevant shit that i think a lot of girls would actually want to read about. i really liked this particular excerpt from her article What Girls Need and wanted to make sure it was on my blog:
TO COOL THE FUCK OUT ABOUT OTHER GIRLS
A thing I wrote for VICE about why girls hate each other (they do!) has turned into the thing I get the second-most emails about (the first-most was a story about how everyone in the 20s hates themselves. Hole-in-one, right?). Half of them are like “Yeah, right? Girls are whores.” NO, FUCK! Fuck you guys.
Also, I got a job offer this week from a not-really-but-definitely porno publication that was like—wait, I’ll copy-paste it for you—“Maybe I’ll send you some photos and have you write snarky things about the girls in them,” for what would be cross-country-plane-ticket money. As if! As if.
You need to cool out about other girls. There will always be someone hotter and less hot and smarter and less smart and cooler and less cool and more or less of whatever gauge you’re using on a particular day. It doesn’t matter. Stop it. Talking about how it exists is good, I think, but that doesn’t mean it’s like just fine to be a dick about it and forgive yourself immediately because it’s what we “do.”
I see this thing a lot that I think of as a “cuntbrag,” also known as the “I’m not like other girls,” which is where you position yourself as better than them based on some perceived female fault of theirs—dramatic, stupid, a whore—while you’re trying to impress a guy, or maybe another girl. I do this sometimes, without knowing. It’s pretty bad news.

Other girls have been very inspirational and sources of tremendous support and positivity for me recently. I’m always so excited to find a new girl on tumblr who’s making stuff, writing cute things, or even just reblogging things that press my aesthetic buttons. I have been actively trying to make more girl friends in real life, but it’s hard to find some that don’t hate on other girls constantly. Sometimes the vitriol is so thick I start to choke and can’t even respond. I’m tired of feeling superior to other girls because of mom issues, ugly stereotypes, my own insecurities, or whatever. I want to find positive female influences that will motivate me to do my best.
Also, reblogging to show Creaves the cute article. <3 (Blankets! Comics! Power songs!)
I’m going to be in San Francisco/Santa Cruz to see my best friends this weekend. We’re making a collab google map of all the delicious food we want to eat and the kawaii stores that need my money. Is there a restaurant/store/museum/whatever we should visit while we’re there?

My friend works for a dentist and got this cat “tattooed” to her crown in their lab. She also has a B12 deficiency so her tongue looks neat.
